Cauam Ferreira Cardoso is a CITE Research Assistant and PhD student in International Economic Development at MIT. He is preparing a publication on the history of appropriate technologies and how lessons from past initiatives in this sector can inform current development practice. His broader research interests include strategies of economic development adopted in the global south, with emphasis on the implementation of development policies and projects. A Brazilian national, Cauam holds a master’s degree in Political Economy from University of Sydney, and Bachelor of Civil Engineering, with qualification in Sanitation and Environmental Engineering from Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (Brazil). Since the start of his career in 2002, he has lived on six different continents, mostly working as an international development practitioner and consultant.
